My "Go-To" Place for Inspiration

When you live in Minnesota, you must, must, must make it to the North Shore at least annually.

It never gets old.  And it never ceases to inspire me.  Nature seems to have a perfect lay-out and design, and it fills up my creative juices.  God is the Great Designer!  These pictures are from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Duluth.

Thank You Gift Idea/ Cupcake Stand

Because of a technical glitch, I am still using my Phone Camera- ug!  One of these days my camera will be up and running again!

This is a great gift or thank you idea.  I made this last week as a thank you gift for something special that someone did for me and she and her family loved it.

It is Oreo Truffles on top of a cake stand that I also made.  (click here for recipe: http://www.bakerella.com/grocery-item-goes-gourmet/ and click here for cake stands: JL Plates and Platters.)

This is all you need to make the truffles.

Just crush the Oreo's.  Then mix it with the cream cheese.  You roll it into balls and dip it into melted white chocolote bark.

This is one of my favorite plates I've run across.  It was perfect on a vintage hobnail milkglass pedestal.

And viola!  A little tulle and a ribbon to hold the truffles in place.  It made the perfect gift.  To order cake stands, visit my Etsy shop here: JL Plates and Platters.    The possibilities are endless!  You can put cakes, cupcakes, cookies, truffles, flowers, cake pops, or anything on top.

A Garden Wedding

Though I am still awaiting pictures from the professional photographer, Instagram will have to do for now! I snapped a few pictures with my phone.

Her colors were aqua blue, teal green, and purple (the colors are somewhat distorted in the photo with the frames).  She also wanted a splash of yellow thrown in.  This took place in a beautiful backyard with a screened in porch and it was actually a breakfast reception.  I went with a simple cottage theme and the bride loved it!  She really loved all the frames I made with pictures of her and the groom "framed" in them.

Hello Australia!

I Had my first international sale to Australia!  I was very excited about his because my husband lived there for 2 years before we were married.  He loves Vegemite, kangaroos, and Lamington's.

I was excited to send this bride-to-be these doilies that had been crocheted for another bride 37 years ago!  I wrote a little bit about them in this post: Only Time Will Tell.

I also sent her this collection of candy dishes for her wedding.

And just for fun, here is my husband a couple of years ago when we scoured the Internet to find an authentic recipe for Lamington's.  We made them for Australia Day (hey, it was January in Minnesota- we love celebrating things during our Deep Freeze, the Big Chill, the Dead of Winter- whatever you want to call it).
