First she had voice lessons with our dear friend, Courtney. Courtney has a profound way of getting my girls to look deep into their hearts and pulls their beautiful voices right out of them. She has many cool ways of thinking about music and singing, and she has an amazing voice to model for them.
The week of try-outs came and went, and my girl was as pleased as punch that all of her hard work and courage paid off and she was accepted as a cast member. (We have a very competitive theatre department and to say she worked hard is an understatement.)
Once rehearsals began, they worked hard on things like the lyrics and learning a complicated and very long waltz (I think they did it over and over again on stage for about 20 minutes).
They also marched in a parade to advertise. Luckily it was a beautiful day because usually the parade is freezing cold. Those kids did a great job presenting themselves and had a lot of fun.
The production was amazing. You could tell that they worked hard. New friendships were made, talent was increased, perseverence paid off, and it was an overall very good experience.
